Responding
to Climate Change 2010
Now in its tenth edition, this publication was produced primarily to serve the information requirements of participants of the Conference of the Parties (COP) meetings which are hosted by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), showcasing the latest initiatives, products and services in relation to climate change. It has gradually extended its reach over the years to encompass technological innovation and reporting mechanisms in response to the growing relevance of climate to private enterprise strategy and operations and it has now become an important information resource to stakeholders in the wider international community who have a vested interest in the challenges associated with climate change. It is published online, in CD-ROM and hard-copy formats and includes regular editorial input from the UNFCCC, the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), International Emissions Trading Association (IETA), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and other climate change authorities.

IUCN | WBSCD - Water Usage in 2010 | Opportunities & Risks - Calendar
Every species, whether animal or plant, uses water every day. This includes each and every one of us. Water connects all people and all life.
Most of the water we use, some 70% globally, we use to grow food. Water also keeps business and industry sectors productive and profitable. The idea we need water to keep us healthy and clean is familiar. However, we easily forget that it is also fundamental to keeping us nourished, to the economy, to jobs, to wealth and security. We need water flowing in rivers for energy, for trade and for enjoyment. Yet, of all the water on Earth, only 1% is liquid freshwater that we can use. Without doubt, water is precious.

World Meteorological Organization Calendar 2009
The beautiful drawings in this calendar, excerpted from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) publication Skies and Oceans, serve as a window into how our future leaders view their climate system. The pictures illustrate both the joys and anguishes of our climate, particularly as climate risks increase the world over.
Increased weather extremes - such as droughts, floods and storms - scarcer food and water resources, and increased disease occurrence are only a few examples of the growing climateinduced risks worldwide. Communities, especially the most vulnerable, must adapt now for their security and growth.

United
Nations Rio Conventions Calendar 2003
The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the United
Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and the Convention
for Bio Diversity (CBD) – otherwise known as the “Rio Conventions” presented a prestigious A3 sized 2005 calendar to world leaders, heads
of governments, environment ministers and negotiators, inter-governmental agencies,
non government organisations and key individuals engaged in environmental challenges
all over the world.
A minimum of ten thousand printed copies were made available, of highest quality, full colour
using fourteen photographic images portraying
the synergy that exists between the work of the
three Rio Conventions. To cater to a much wider
audience, the Rio Conventions hosted an electronic
downloadable version of the calendar and a gallery
of photographs on all three websites, making
it a personal diary for anyone with a vested
interest in sustainable development.
The United Nations Rio Conventions invited sponsorship
from appropriate organisations wishing to play
a high-profile role within each of the convention
processes. |
